A recent article was published in local media shortly after the Lionesses won against the Matildas (UK vs AUS Women's Football) in which the Chamber of Commerce's Howard Martin stated that the £410 (plus refundable insurance deposit) charge for using Council land was prohibitive and meant they could not provide an outdoor screening of the historic final match.
Keen to see that this historic event is experienced by as many people as possible, Cllr Hazel Timpe (the Council's lead on Tourism) has said today, "We will waive the £410 charge, plus the insurance deposit, for an outdoor screening of this historic event."
